Carousel Adoption Program
Adopt a piece of history, create your own legacy for generations to come.
Adopt a piece of history, create your own legacy for generations to come.
At the core of our fundraising activities is a classic multi-tiered adoption program, with the ability to “adopt a pony”, “adopt a chariot, “adopt an art panel”, adopt virtually all parts of the carousel. Adopter recognition is a principle component of the program, and every adopter’s name will be findable on the carousel.
The L. Wagner Davis Collection
Throughout history, art and artifacts have been lost, often due to their repurposing under the “march of progress”. In the early 1940s, our carousel underwent a substantial refurbishment, and Lotteva Wagner Davis was given the opportunity to repaint the interior art panels.
And though the original art and frames were painted over at this time (they were probably fairly beat after 20+/- years of traveling service), Lotteva’s collection of paintings represent a fun slice of Americana from this era. Lotteva’s 13 scenes and her version of the classic Allan Herschell sign panel will continue to gain nationwide attention as they are professionally conserved and exhibited around the country in various museum typical venues.
The L. Wagner Davis Art Collection: representing our carousel, our town and carousel arts of the 40’s as they continue on their journey with a newfound mission – but forever connected to The Carousel of Smiles.
New Frames
As part of our ongoing programing, the new interior art panels, re-created in the original Allan Herschell style, will be used to create a curatable, rotating art exhibition space — just imagine the possibilities! This program will truly connect our art community to the carousel!
