There are many wonderful and varied components that make up our carousel – about 424 distinct components. The ponies and chariots are clearly the highlights for any carousel, but when all of the other decorative and functional aspects join in, the magic and character of a carousel truly comes to life.
From the massive center pole, to the rounding board shields representing The Four Winds, to the original paintings of L. Wagner Davis showcasing a slice of American Art, to the many other unique parts of the frame and mechanism, they all contribute to the magic and delight that is a carousel. (And let’s not forget the 440 light bulbs (which will be a fun – future – adoption program!).
This intact carousel is a living part of history & art – an incredible example of innovation and art from the industrial age that continues to delight generations over 100 years later, and will continue for another 100 years.
Hop aboard – adopt a piece of history and create one’s own legacy for generations to come.
